We decided to write articles to share what we did and what we felt during study tour on 8/29 〜 9/3 with youth leaders.
It is said that the only skill IVUSA members can't improve is language skill. But it is not true!
You can do it in this Philippines project!!
■Reflection of the participant
This activity was done for making the base of this project better by looking back the past activities that we did so far and improving the quality of this project.
ACCORD gave us a lot of feedback that we did never expect.
We got to be able to make the workshop much better with the feedback.
At the meeting with the Laur elders, we talked about MOU and 3 years plan to look back and we planned future activities.
We asked them what they wanted us to do, and we discussed how IVUSA could support them.
And we could have an opportunity to have relationship with De La Salle university.
I felt this project had big potential.
This was my second times to join this project, and I really want to join this project again.

In this project, we could improve the quality of this project through looking back the activities that we did so far, and we got more perspectives from ACCORD.
Even though this is my first time to join this activity, I got a wonderful chance to think what we can do together because we could know how Filipinos are conscious about disaster prevention and what kind of activities that Filipinos want to do with us.
And I could make a lot of friends there. They welcomed us very warmly.
I really want to keep involving in this project to expand on the possibilities of this project.

Impression of three KADRE's youth members -Justlyn, Rod, and Erica who attended the meeting.
The three youth who attended the meeting all thought that the meeting is an eye opener, because of the questions being asked by the both side it helps us to also ask ourselves questions on how we can do other things to do better for the vision we've always wanted to achieve. It made us think of ideas that can help the partnership grow more. Until now, we are still reflecting on that and we will make sure to pass this impression to other Laur youth and also ask them to reflect to themselves so we can all think on ways to improve and grow. We will make sure to share the thoughts of others trough SNS too.
■Feedback from ACCORD
〇Introduction about IVUSA ・・・Listeners get bored easily when speakers just read the scripts, so not just read it but speakers should introduce their own stories.
◯Crossroads game ・・・There’re no right answers in this game. The rule of this game is choosing the best answers considering the situations that are given to the players.
We need to tell the players that the best important thing about this game is the choosing process not answering.
There’re questions that are easily answered. We need to give players time and situation to think about.
◯Picture -card story telling ・・・The characters should have names, not AB, or C Main target is kids but we should include massages for adults.
To make sure that kids totally understand the story, at the end of the story, we should tell them the keywords that we want kids to remember or the things inside of emergency bag. Not just read.
(In practicing) Start practicing with speaker’s own language. It’s easier to put emotions into the sentences. After practicing with their own language, it’s much easier to do in English. Sounds effects make everyone feel relaxed.
◯Disaster prevention gesture game ・・・We do this game with English words but kids will be more familiar with Tagalog, so we can say “earthquake”“fire”in Tagalog.
We need to tell the reasons why we should take the actions and how it saves our lives at the both start and end of this game.
◯Poster session ・・・Everyone knows this activities, so we can introduce easily this activity in the workshop, but there should be more parts that kids enjoy.
Ideal of your hometown
firstly, let kids imagine and draw that the natural disasters actually happen, then IVUSA can explain with the pictures.
We can discuss what kind of problems we have, and what would be convenient for the situation.
Let's say when typhoon happened before in the Philippines and japan, there were definitely things that were convenient and needed. Kids and we also can draw them and share them.
